The Great Revelation
The Life of Sri Chaitanya
Ranchor Prime

Sri Chaitanya’s story is one of the world’s great unknown treasures. His blend of devotion and wisdom inspired generations of followers.
‘If you who feel yourself lower than the grass,
If you are more tolerant than a tree,
If you look for no honour, but honour all others—
You can sing the name of God constantly.’
These words of Sri Chaitanya appeal to the innate spiritual capacity in us all. Chaitanya was born in 15th century India in a time of religious ferment, at the dawn of an Indian spiritual renaissance. His simple message transcended cultural boundaries between high and low caste Hindus, as well as between Hindu and Muslim. He inspired a wave of devotion to Krishna that eventually led in the twentieth century to the emergence of a worldwide movement based on singing Krishna’s names.
This modern retelling is based on the biographies Sri Chaitanya-Caritamrita and Sri Caitanya Bhagavata, classics of Bengali epic poetry.
